01. Welcome To The Jungle

"Welcome"... A fine word, isn't it? Creating comfort, cognisance, conflict, civility, conversation, communication, confusion...at times command... and sometimes... cruelty. U wud perhaps wonder why on earth have I said this. Think. Hard. Harder... And by now if u hv not yet been able to understand what is it that I'm tryin' to communicate... u hvn't really been tryin' hard. There are times in a man's life when he gets to be on the recieving end of this verbal dictat. Be it at a friend's place, a relative's doorstep, a teacher's abode, or the office of his employer. "WELCOME" Confused? I'm not surprised that u r. It is, after all, one of the numerous effects the word creates. U wud think, "Am I REALLY welcome?"... If u think u r, COMFORT comes into play, else a lot of other emotional turbulence starts playing havoc in ur mind.

Imagine this: Ur at a new office for that job interview u sooo desperately wanted for so long. The person at the door doesn't recognise u. So he does what he's been paid for... to keep all the scum out of the office. "But I got a call from this very office for an interview!!!! I hv an appointment!!!!", u feel like screaming, but all u do is stand there with a weird look on ur face, wondering whether u should try calling for help, or find a corner to duck into and avoid the penetrating eyes of the people around u...

And then u think.... "Am I really Welcome???".

Cut to another situation: U go to the college. YOUR own college. U pay a goddamned high fee to get the BEST education... as the college claims... So what if ur a little regularly irregular in attending classes? U'r a lil late today, unlike other days, coz on the other days u hardly come to college. The class has already started... without u, of course. "To knock or not to knock." That's the question that springs up in ur mind. Then u muster up some courage, and u rap ur knuckles on the door.

"Knock-knock".

"Who's that?" comes the voice of the obviously very irritated prof inside the hall. Was almost like a bark.

U open the door a lil n peep inside.

"It's me, Sir. M-m-may I come in?". U hardly realise it, but ur voice is shaking, ur shaking... and u feel that the whole bloody world is shaking. "Am I in the middle of an earthquake?" u ask urself. But unfortunately, that's not happening.

Ur comforting day-dreaming is brought to a sudden and abrupt end by the furious bark of the prof again.

"What? It's U? Well, am I glad to see u? Read my lips!!!! GET OUT!!!!!".

Man, u run like hell!!!! Some mixed emotions goin on in ur head. Freedom!!! Humiliation too. Regret, maybe.

And then u ask urself again.... "Am I REALLY Welcome?"

Well... these were just a few situations.... many more goin on in my head... Shall pen 'em down again... errr.. shall type 'em down again.

Till that time u REALLY r welcome to read.... and
think.

Love, Peace n' Harmony
Sam.
